Main Street Car Free Festival Fundraiser!!!!!

We are having a Main Street Car Free Fundraiser this Thursday May 28th from 8pm-12pm @ the Purple Crab (3916 Main St./23rd). There will be live music and an opportunity to meet and hang out with really cool people while showing your support for the Car Free Fest! (Only 3 weeks away). Hope to see y’all there and tell your friends!!!

Block parties day different from other car-free events

As the goal of hosting block parties is getting to know your neighbours on your block, the majority of parties will not be for the general public unless noted. Each block in Kits creates its own party rather than organizers holding one big party for the entire community, as is done at the other car-free parties. If you love the block party spirit and would like to join in, we would be happy to help you create your own party for your block!

 We urgently need volunteers to help us keep Denman Street closed to traffic on June 14th so that our community can celebrate! Your donation of a 2 hour shift will make everyone’s day. And, there will be a huge volunteer party after the festival.

Kitsilano Block Party Workshop this Sunday, May 3rd from 11 to 12:300

Greetings to all block party hosts, potential hosts, and volunteers!

We would love you to come out to our 2009 workshop, being held at SPEC (2150 Maple St.) between 11 and 12:30 this Sunday, May 3rd. It will be a great chance for everyone to share stories from the 2008 event and also introduce newcomers to the Block Party concept.  Please come out if you are interested in hosting or volunteering this year! Coffee and treats will be served!

From the feedback we received after last year’s event it sounded like everyone had a great time with their block parties. Looking at the many photos from the various parties it’s clear that each party was unique and each host came up with some amazing ideas for having fun in the street!

This year’s Kits Car-free Block Parties Day will be held on Sunday, June 14th 2009. We hope to have an even greater number of block parties this year!
