Kitsilano does something different for Car Free Day. Instead of closing off a major street, people throughout Kits host block parties with their neighbours.
Some have dancing, some have music, some have couches, chairs and carpets in the middle of the street and some share chips and a drink together!
All of them are a fun, relaxing chance to hang out
with the people who live in your neighborhood.
The 2013 Car Free Day Kitsilano block parties were made possible by the Car Free Vancouver Society, the Vancouver Foundation, and the City of Vancouver: www.neighbourhoodsmallgrants.ca
We also extend a huge thank you to the Kits block parties’ core volunteers who make this exciting event happen every year as well as the hosts who bring their neighbours together to party on the streets.
Host a Block Party in Kitsilano
We welcome new coordinating volunteers as well as people interested in being hosts for next year. Please contact Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to learn about joining in the fun in 2014!
Visit our Host a Block Party in Kitsilano page and we’ll help you get it going. For information on fun party activities, as well as tips to make sure your block party runs smoothly, download the party toolkit or contact us at email@example.com. You don’t have to live in a block of single family homes to host or take part in a block party. People in apartment towers, townhouses and condos have them too!
