Kitsilano does something different for Car Free Day: Instead of closing off a major street, people throughout Kits host block parties with their neighbours. The block parties are as individual as the people who pull them together. Some have dancing, some have music, some have couches, chairs and carpets in the middle of the street and some share chips and a drink together! All of them are a fun, relaxing chance to hang out with the people who live on your street.
The 2013 block parties will take place on Saturday, June 15th and Sunday, June 16th.

Host a Block Party in Kitsilano
Want to host your own party in Kits on June 15 or 16, 2013? It’s easier than you think! To get started, go to our Host a Block Party in Kitsilano page and we’ll help you get it going.
For information on fun party activities, as well as tips to make sure your block party runs smoothly, download the party toolkit or contact us at kitsilano@carfreevancouver.org. You don’t have to live in a block of single family homes to host or take part in a block party. People in apartment towers, townhouses and condos have them too! View a map of the 2012 Kitsilano Block Party locations.
Do you live in another neighbourhood and want to have a block party? Please contact Ross Moster or visit Village Vancouver
Grants
Did you know that there is an opportunity for a small grant to cover some of the costs that might arise from a block party – some printing costs, name tags, children’s activities? You likely won’t know if you have the grant before the party, but it’s a definite possibility! And VERY simple to apply for. Check out the Neighbourhood Small Grants available through Vancouver Foundation. The deadline for applications is May 31.
