Kitsilano does something different for Car Free Day. Instead of closing off a major street, people throughout Kits host block parties with their neighbours.
Some have dancing, some have music, some have couches, chairs and carpets in the middle of the street and some share chips and a drink together!
All of them are a fun, relaxing chance to hang out
with the people who live in your neighborhood.
Host a Block Party in Kitsilano
We welcome new coordinating volunteers as well as people interested in being hosts for next year. Please contact us at email@example.com if you’d like to learn about joining in the fun in 2015!
Visit our Host a Block Party in Kitsilano page and we’ll help you get it going. For information on fun party activities, as well as tips to make sure your block party runs smoothly, download the party toolkit or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You don’t have to live in a block of single family homes to host or take part in a block party. People in apartment towers, townhouses and condos have them too!
How to be Entertainers at a Kitsilano Block Party
Something new this year! If you are an entertainer, you can volunteer to perform at one or several intimate Kitsilano Block Parties.
Please note that the Kitsilano festival is different from the other main street festivals. Our Kits celebration consists of several individual small neighbourhood block parties (typically 20-60 people) that are held for varying lengths of time on either Saturday June 20 or Sunday June 21 throughout Kitsilano.
Your entertainment is a volunteer gig however you can discuss the possibility of passing a hat and/or permitting sales of CD’s etc with the block party host.
Get the ball rolling by filling out this application. Once your application has been received, your information will be shared with all the block party hosts. The individual block party hosts will contact you to arrange a day and time for you to perform at their block party.
